How You Can Evolve With Therapy

There are a number of reasons why a person may seek therapy.  One may want to develop greater self awareness or find clarity. One may want to change behavior or patterns that get in the way of living one's life fully. One may have unresolved trauma or hurt that needs healing. One may desire to experience an authentic connection with oneself or another person. Or achieve all of the above.

Regardless of what initially draws a person to therapy, as human beings we are all presented with ongoing situations that require us to find a balance between what we think and how we feel; between our own needs and the need’s of others, between what feels good now and what leads to a lifetime of fulfillment. For Women

Love Your Feminine Self. Reclaim Your Power!

Most women have internalized societal messages about who they are as human beings. If you:

Have low self esteem
Believe you are not good enough
Feel unlovable or unacceptable
Strive to be perfect
Feel shame about your body
Need to be in control
Fear being alone or feel isolated
Turn to food and other substances for comfort
Are confused about your sexuality or feel sexually inhibited

Then it’s time to question the old messages and internalized beliefs and discover the deeper truth about who you really are.

I believe that for a woman to feel more fully empowered, it is necessary to connect to her deeper nature and find a more authentic balance between the internal masculine and feminine energies within her. When I refer to masculine and feminine, I do not mean gender. I’m referring to the energetic principles of yin and yang from Taoist teachings. It seems obvious that our society values and encourages energies that are masculine (accomplishment, assertiveness, productivity) and tends to invalidate the energies of the feminine (passivity, softness, depth, receptivity). Many women internalize societal patriarchal messages of how to have value and use this to measure their own value. We can see this in women who overwork themselves in pursuit of accomplishment and success, as well as in women who pursue a body image that is unnatural to the female body. When a woman is a more naturally feminine person and she pushes herself to be masculine in order to have value, she suffers. Over identification with masculine energy also often causes an internal disconnection from a woman’s essential feminine nature. Most issues of the female, such as low self-esteem, negative body image, sexual inhibition, self-doubt, and powerlessness stem from this misidentification.

By developing awareness of the patriarchal messages, exploring her reactions, thoughts and feelings that arise while also discovering the power of the feminine, rather than the often distorted image of the feminine that is seen as weak and needy, women can move toward reclaiming the power of their feminine nature and heal. The task for a woman is to uphold some necessary levels of masculine energy, while also allowing her authentic feminine nature to flourish within her. I help women work toward this more innate way of being.
